CSN stores

Tax season is right around the corner, it's the one time that I can splurge on the things that we don't necessarily need but would really really like. I'm focusing on our living room this year and would like to update a few of our older hand me downs from when we first moved here! I have been looking at corner TV stands and a new area rug. Both were given to us when we moved into our new place last April, almost a year ago. I am ready for a change. My one stop shop for all of our home goods is CSN stores! With over 200 stores they carry the best assortment of goods and at unbeatable prices. The only downfall is it takes me a while to choose because there are just so many to choose from!
 Here are my top picks:

Keep your eye out for a special review of an item from CSN stores that I will be posting in the future!

I'm alive!

I promise I'm not going to be away like this forever! I'm just trying to get settled into a routine of now being a mommy of two. To be honest I still don't truly know what it's like, I've had my wonderful hubby with me the first week and my amazing mother helping me for the past week. Tomorrow will be my first official day alone with both kiddos. Baby K has been so amazing so far that i'm praying he hasn't been storing it all for mommy's first day. It's hard to believe he's already 2 weeks old, time really does fly by.
Next month I will be presenting our personal reviews of the products featured during the Ultimate Baby Shower event. I am also working on some great new reviews and giveaways (including a $400 stroller!), so stay tuned!
Once I get the hang of this (and start catching up on some much needed sleep) I will be back with a bang!
Thanks for hanging around, I <3 you all!

Oreo is such a great Big Brother!

Overstock.com Great Deals

I have a hard time finding cute clothes for boys. I feel like it takes so much more effort than finding something for a little girl. I love the variety and prices on boys clothing at overstock.com! They sell everything from Ed Hardy to Carters, and Kenneth Cole. Just to name a few of my favorites! I will definitely be ordering some for our upcoming family pictures this spring! I love that you can read an in depth review from someone that has actually had experience with the product. There's also the bonus of $2.95 shipping on all of their products! What a steal! Here's some of my favorite picks for Oreo:

Overstock.com Valentines Day Find

So Valentines day is just around the corner. Do you celebrate it? This will be the first year that it's actually a BIG deal around here. Why? It's our 1st year wedding anniversary! Yep, we tied the knot last Valentines day and I am super excited to celebrate our "1 year". I'm also excited to pick out my gift. I've been browsing Overstock.com's selection of rings and I am very impressed. Not only with the selection but with the prices too! Here are a few that I have on my 'must have' list for hubby:

Welcome baby...

Finally! He has arrived!

Here is my super long birth story:

I went into my 39 week appointment last Monday (Jan 10th) and had progressed enough that the doctor asked me if I wanted to have my water broken to get things going. I was already having some contractions and decided to have her sweep my membranes and go ahead with scheduling a day/time to break my water.

She came back into the room and asked me how I'd like to have my water broken that next day! (Jan 11th) I didn't know what to say, I honestly thought she wouldn't schedule it until the end of the week! She said that after stripping my membranes she would be surprised if I didn't already go into labor that night. So we called the hospital, they already had 2 C-sections planned and would have to call me later in the day to let me know for sure if we were still on for 7am the next morning. I was so excited but didn't want to get my hopes up in case the hospital decided there wasn't room for me.

I went home in a lot of pain from my membranes being stripped and felt small contractions on my ride home. I had my mom over for dinner and cooked some Eggplant Parmesan to try and get my water to break on it's own! I was really nervous about being induced because with my last son I had a horrible experience. I was induced due to low fluid and when my induction was started I wasn't dilated or effaced at all! That pitocin was horrible.
While making dinner I got a call from my doctors office letting me know we were definitely on for 7am the next morning. I was in shock. No turning back now. So I ran around the house trying to get all of our last minute stuff together (we STILL didn't have our bags packed). Once I calmed down I noticed I was having a few contractions and started bouncing on my ball for a bit before heading to bed around 1am. I of course couldn't sleep and kept having random spaced out contractions that weren't really time-able but definitely had me up and outta bed a couple times.

We got to the hospital around 6:30a, they had my room ready for me and the doctor got there around 8a to break my water. They checked me before hand and I had progressed a 1/2cm during the night and was now a favorable 4 and 80%.

After she broke my water I began walking the halls and doing a couple squats. I was getting worried because my contractions hadn't started and I REALLY did not want that dreaded pitocin. She put me back on the monitors every hour and each time I was on them it showed contractions that I wasn't feeling that were about 10 mins apart! I decided to try the ball at 10am and it seems like almost instantly my contractions started getting longer, stronger, and closer together, Ouch. I've never been happier to be in so much pain, the ball really felt good though and when the nurse came back in I explained to her what I was feeling and we got me back onto the monitors.

My contractions/dilation never stalled and I got my epidural an hour later (11am). Before my epidural I was still a favorable 4 but now 100%. Only 10 mins after it was put in I was 6cm! I guess relaxation really is key when it comes to birthing. The epidural went great minus the fact that my husband fainted!! I think that was the scariest part, he claims he was trying to help me take my mind off of what was going on LOL, right.
She came back to check me at Noon and I had progressed to 8cm. Not even an hour later I was 9cm, she checked me 15 mins after that and I was a full 10cm! She left to get my husband who was eating lunch in the lobby and came back in saying "Ok, as soon as he's done with his sandwich we're gonna start pushing."

This is what took the longest! I couldn't feel anything because they didn't turn the epidural off until the last 1/2 hour. I pushed until 2:35 pm when my gorgeous son finally graced us with his presence! I am sore and had to be cut twice but overall compared to my last labor this one was nothing!

Welcome Kingston Alexander, 7 lbs 7 oz and 21" long.
He is amazing and we love him SO much!

Charlie Banana cloth diaper review

Cute, easy to use, and very affordable! Three of my favorite traits in a cloth diaper! This is a great 'first-timer' diaper for those who aren't sure what they love just yet.

A little background about the company:
Charlie Banana™ was created out of love for eco friendliness, quality and design. We wanted to design products that each individual would feel confident to use on themselves, on their babies and that they would recommend to their friends. We wanted products that make you feel good on so many different levels.
We live in a world full of chemicals, full of cheap items that do not deliver what they promise. There is a global lack of eco friendly modern design, and such a waste of resources. Many of us do not realize the full extent of the chemicals we apply on ourselves and on our children - from food, cosmetics, air, clothing and hygiene products. We wanted to have something truly unique and to promote items that are basic but so much better for the health of the whole family, for our world and for everyone’s wallet.
As the future of the world is in our hands, we actively promote reusing wherever you can. Changing habits one at the time. Individual efforts make a huge difference.

About the Product:

Charlie Banana™ One Size or Size diapers are a 2 in 1 system. You can use washable inserts or disposable inserts. A diaper with options! We recommend you stuff the inside with reusable inserts.
There are times when you need to be able to use disposable. While traveling, dropping your kid to someone that might be inexperienced with cloth diapers, or any occasion when a disposable is needed.

My Initial Reaction: The diaper looked very simple and easy to use. I was pretty excited about it as it's hard for us to come by 'daddy' diapers lately. A daddy diaper is one that my husband is able to use properly without a headache and without leaks. I also really loved the sleek trim look and couldn't wait to try it on Oreo. It was great to read that they only use 100% certified organic cotton in their product line! I was also provided a disposable insert to try in place of the microfiber inserts!

My First Use: We love it! The fit is amazing. I really liked the extra wide elastic on the back side of the diaper, helping to hold it in place. I first tried it with the microfiber inserts and both my husband and I were impressed at how long he lasted in it! We were getting ready to run some errands and I decided to give the disposable insert a try, just to see what the difference would be like. I am not sure if Oreo liked the feeling of it (perhaps I should have stuffed it in the pocket instead of laying it on top of the soft cotton). It absorbed wonderfully and made changing a wiggly toddler in a public restroom much quicker and easier! The only downfall is that even though it is labeled a one size diaper it does not have the snaps along the front for the rise. So I really am not sure how this would fit a younger baby with a shorter torso. I will try it out on baby number two however and let everyone know how it turns out.

My Favorite Qualities: The disposable insert! It was so convenient to use these while we were out and about. I've tried other brands that include the disposable inserts but I was very impressed with the way the Charlie Banana diaper help them in place. I think it's the great fit that helps with the placement.

No baby yet...

My apologies for being MIA. With my ridiculous bloggy absence you would think that I had the baby!
Nope.
Nada.
We got close the other day. I had every pre-labor symptom a full term mama could dream of.
Apparently there's this thing they call 'False Labor'...
*sigh*
Yes I know. He will come when he is ready, this is the most overplayed line that NO super uncomfy pregnant lady wants to hear. So word of advice, if you know a pregnant lady do her a favor and say something else like "No worries, baby will be here soon." It gives us hope, and reminds us that there really is an end in sight.
I joined the BabyCenter birthing board a few months ago and it's funny to read all of the 'tips and tricks' other mama's use to help move things along.
I am a true believer that no matter what you try, baby will come when baby decides to!
Who knows, I just might change my tune when I hit that 40 week mark...

Bashful Bump Maternity Bodysuit review and giveaway

This is by far my favorite maternity review so far! The bashful bump maternity bodysuit has come to my rescue more than once and the list just keeps on growing.

A little background about the company:
While pregnant with my second child, I was thrilled to find that my favorite designers were coming out with maternity lines. Finally, I could be pregnant and still be able to dress and feel like my normal self! As my closet filled with fabulous maternity low rise jeans and designer track pants, I found myself constantly tugging my shirt down to cover my exposed belly and lower back. I didn't want to always have to wear long tops nor rely on tight accessories that looked untucked. I wanted something that wouldn't creep up, something that could become the foundation of my new maternity chic wardrobe. I needed a bodysuit.
After much research, I was surprised to find that no one had ever heard of a maternity bodysuit, so I decided to make one. Then I made three more. I wore them everyday either alone as a cute top or layered under my other favorite maternity shirts. No more fabric hanging down to my thighs. Best of all, the bodysuits freed me from the worry of flashing my belly and lower back. I never had to tug my shirt down again and with Bashful Bump Maternity Bodysuits, neither will you!
My Initial Reaction: As soon as I opened the package I was very impressed with the quality and softness of the fabric. It's really silky and the fabric is very hearty and thick. Overall the bodysuit seemed to be very well made!

My First Use: I was having problems finding pants and shirts that would work together to keep my belly from showing. This was most annoying when I had my weekly visits to the chiropractor. Laying on a table and trying to keep your pants up and your shirt down while pregnant was officially a new challenge for me! So I put the bodysuit to the test. It was much easier to get on than I thought it would be. The flap that snaps down actually hangs extra low so there is no unbearable extra reaching trying to get it on. It felt great to have my entire belly supported as well as the bra support up top! I wasn't constantly pulling my shirt down.

My Favorite Qualities: I love how versatile it is. I was able to where it out grocery shopping as well as to a wedding. It looks great with my entire wardrobe! I enjoyed that it was comfortable enough to wear all day long and while sleeping. having the extra support at night time was a great bonus. Anything that helps a pregnant lady sleep is a great product in my book!

This is a definite must have for any pregnant ladies wardrobe!
