Moby Wrap Review and 15% off coupon code

We love baby wearing, almost as much as we love cloth diapers! We didn't discover it until Little L was well past infancy. Probably around 9-10 months old. It was, and still is, the best thing that's happened to us. Little L is a super clingy child and has always been a momma's boy. We had such a hard time keeping him quiet in stores, while he sat far away detached from us in his car seat or stroller. It's no wonder children hate those things! If only I knew my solution was so simple. Babywear! After discovering babywearing I've had my eye on Moby Wraps for a very long time, they always looked so comfortable.
Moby Wraps come in tons of different styles and types. Be sure to check the site out to see just how much they offer, and at great affordable prices! We received the Sienna colored Moby Wrap and I fell in love instantly. The fabric was soft, yet durable enough to hold my growing 16 month old baby boy. I was unsure about whether he would enjoy it because we've not yet tried this type of carrier. I was growing tired of the ring sling, due to the fact that Little L's increasing weight and size was beginning to cause my shoulder to ache after a short amount of time. The Moby wrap was spread evenly across my back and shoulders, It felt very evenly distributed. There are many different ways of carrying your baby with a Moby Wrap. You can read about those HERE. I am excited to use this for future babies, I hear that it's a great asset to nursing! I was a little intimidated by the instruction booklet that came with the wrap, but about 10 mins later I realized it isn't difficult at all! There are great pictures and step by step instructions for each position possible! Pair that with great customer service, and you have no problem at all.

Straight From The Source:
Be comfortable
The design of the Moby® Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby® Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby® Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby.
Be secure
The Moby® Wrap comes with an easy to follow instructional guide and this web site with the latest news, tips and techniques. With the single stretch cotton and the width of the Moby® Wrap, your baby is wrapped close and tight, ensuring a secure hold. Your baby’s head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. You can finally have both hands free and know your baby is safe and secure.
Be uniquely close to your baby
There is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body, and sound of your heartbeat within the cuddly confines of the Moby® Wrap.
Preemie to 35 lbs.
The Moby® Wrap is an optimal baby carrier for premature infants. Preemies are often prescribed to practice "kangaroo care" and this skin-to-skin practice used to increase birth weight can be easily achieved while wearing the Moby® Wrap. The Moby® Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric can hold up to 45 lbs, and most people feel comfortable carrying up to 35 lbs.
Soothes fussy babies
It is amazing how quickly a baby will settle down once wrapped in the Moby® Wrap. Experts like Dr. Sears, stress the importance of holding your baby often and close. The Moby® Wrap allows you to do this with ease. The style of the wrap insures your baby is uniquely close, while providing ultimate comfort and support. No more aching backs or tired arms! Now your baby can be kept close and happy for as long as he or she desires.
Versatile
There are many ways to wear your Moby® Wrap. You can wear your baby facing you, facing the world, sideways or on your back. When not being used as a carrier, the Moby® can be used as blanket, pillow or anything else that comes to mind.
Machine washable
The Moby® Wrap is easy to clean. You can machine wash your Moby® in cold water and tumble dry low. Slight shrinkage after washing may occur. Once you start wearing your Moby® again, it will stretch out.

Could you all do me a HUGE favor. I plan on having an organized way of displaying information for the Cloth Diapers Exposed event. It's still being worked on, but I want to make sure everyone is able to click the link and that it will load alright for them before the event actually starts. If you could just check it out and let me know how it worked for you I would REALLY appreciate it. Even if it's just a quick Yes or No comment, thanks so much!

I Heart Faces "Hands On" Fun

I came across a really neat blog that featured lots of different photo challenges! It's a lot of fun so far! This is my second entry for the photo challenges! I took this while playing with Little L and thought it was a cute fun shot of his cute little hands. I thought it turned out kind of cool because the side of the toy looks like an "I" and then there's the block heart and then his hands. So it looks like the photo says I heart hands :-)

"Be sure to head on over to www.iheartfaces.com to check out all of the beautiful face entries this week!"

What A Night.

I'm not usually one to complain. Honest. I try to always look at the "bright" side of things. Nine times out of ten there usually is one. Not tonight. I think it started when Big D walked through the door from work only to inform me that he would be eating a quick snack then heading to bed because he had to return to work in a few hours. Really?! On a Friday night, the one and only night that I plan on going to work out then pig out somewhere nice for dinner. Ugh. Ok. Fine. I can deal. I am a stay at home mommy, and I truly do love every minute of it. I will never in any way take for granted the fact that I am able to stay home with my son and enjoy his every second of being. He is amazing and truly makes me the happiest person in the world. He does however have 5 times the energy I do and can completely wear me out! So I enjoy when daddy comes home and plays a few games while I sneak away to the bathroom or my sewing machine. (yes these are my "escapes") Tonight I realized how much I take this for granted.
Little L woke up cranky from his nap (never a good sign) so I started his favorite Elmo movie and headed to the kitchen to make dinner. He came running in after me screaming at the top of his lungs. uhoh. Not good.

Let me tell you about the rest of my night with pictures.
I started his Mac-N-Cheese which if you've read previously Little L's diet has been changed to gluten free. This stuff cooks a little differently and I am not yet experienced in making it. I start the water, after it boils I added the noodles, then I noticed the DVD player had stopped playing so I had to run in and fix it. Only to come back to this...

Yup. It began to boil over. A sticky gooey nasty mess. I took the LO to his toy box and diverted his attention long enough to clean up the boiled over mess, which in turn created this mess...

that would need to be cleaned before Little L went to bed. Blah.

He then proceeded to run in and ask for a "bup" or in translation a cup of water. I went to grab one, and of course this is what I found...

Yup. It was dirty. They ALL were dirty. Of course...why wouldn't they be. This is usually about the time that I would ask Big D to grab the little one and entertain him while I washed his cup, or have him wash the cup for me while I kept Little L busy. Nope. Big D was sleeping.
So. I ended up with this...

at my legs, while I hurridly washed his cup, finished his mac-n-cheese, played with him for a few more hours to try and wear him out, bathed him, rocked him, and finally layed him to sleep. I would really love to know how single mothers do this! I can't even imagine doing it by myself every single night. I guess I would be resorting to this...
much more often.

Happy Day

As I'm sure you can understand, Martin Luther King jr. is a big part of my life. Without his powerful movements my mother (Puerto Rican/Caucasian) and father (French/African American) would never have been together, I never would have been born, and sweet Little L wouldn't exist either.
Crazy to think of things this way.

I thank God each day that "His Dream" came true.

My favorite line from his speech-

"Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred."

Baby's First Phone Call

I really wish this was around when I had Little L. It is such a great idea, and we really could of used one less "stresser" during our birthing experience. I can't wait to try it out when we have baby #2, which I must be honest we are waiting on for now!

-Straight from the Source-

Baby's First Phone Call is an automated call tree that allows you to notify all of your friends and family of the arrival of your bundle of joy without the hassle of making dozens of individual phone calls, or leaving some friends and family to find out second- or third-hand.
With Baby's First Phone Call, you set up an account before your baby is born—when you still have a moment of time to yourself—and enter the names and phone numbers of all the people you want to notify when the baby arrives. Then, after the baby is born, you make a single phone call and leave a personal voice-mail message of any length with all the details you want to share.
Not only can you tell your friends and family when your little bundle arrived, you can share information such as the hospital and room number you're in and whether and when you'd like to receive visitors.
Our system places calls to each of the phone numbers in your account. If the person answers the phone they hear your happy message. If they don't answer, the message is left on their voicemail or answering machine. In either case, there is an option for them to leave you a return message that you can pick up at your convenience.
It's really that easy! You're doing all the hard work; let us make spreading the good news easy for you.
Use Baby's First Phone Call to notify your book group, your friends from Lamaze class, your co-workers and your extended family. Now you have the perfect way to send a personal message with your joyous news to everyone in your network!
With Baby's First Phone Call, you won't forget to notify anyone of your news and nobody will be the last to know!

I'm Curious

How can I keep him little?
I don't want to think about the days where he will shut me out and no longer ask for "huggin', luvin's"
*sigh*
I suppose this is why we have more.
I am then destined to have children the rest of my life,
I don't think I can take the thought of not having sweet curls in my face at night,
or warm kisses in the morning.
He is my world,
what does one do when their world becomes a big boy?

I'm Back!

I'm feeling TONS better! Thanks for all of the well wishes. Some of my diapers have begun arriving in the mail and I am totally stoked to start trying them out. We also received our sleepy wrap just in time! I nanny for a little boy who just turned 5 months old and will be keeping him overnight for the first time this week. I will definitely be blogging about how that goes. Luckily he is a really good sleeper, and Little L hasn't been doing so shabby himself. I did some research online about his symptoms that I had thought were associated just with teething, and it turns out he actually has a gluten intolerance. Crazy right?! So we changed his diet and that exact same night he slept 8 hrs. Which is amazing for him because he usually only sleeps two hours then wakes up and sleeps with Big D and I. It's been 2 weeks now on the gluten free diet and he's been sleeping an average of 8-10 hours a night! Amazing, I know! When we went to the doctor to talk about it he suggested a blood test, but I decided against the stress of putting him through that, we already know its working so why make the little guy go through something like that?! Like I said before, we're different. Maybe somewhere down the line he may want to actually get tested for it, he may even decide against eating only the gluten free foods. For now though, mommy is getting her much needed rest. :-)

I also made my first "sewn" birthday gift for the sweetest little 6 year old girl! Here's a picture of it, it's a reversible jacket. Not perfect, but not bad for my first try!

As well as my first attempt at a dress for a mommy that is providing me a diaper locally to review on my blog. Her little girl is going to test this little beauty out for me!

If you like them let me know, I will start putting some in my etsy shop for custom orders :-)

Yuck!

You'll have to excuse my absence for a day, I am sick sick sick. Yuck! It's really no fun being a mommy and being sick! The little guy just plain wont let me be sick. haha Nothing like chasing a 15 month old around while you're blowing your nose and having a sneezing fit! Once again I give major props to all the mommies out there, you truly are Super Heroes in my eyes! The good thing though is that Big D didn't pick up any overtime this weekend, sigh...I'm so loved! I'm now off to take a nice hot bubble bath with my amazing organic lavender bubble bath petals (more about these later)! <3

Rockin' Baby Sling

Rockin Baby Sling

I was going to wait and include this giveaway into the "Cloth Diapers Exposed" event, but I wanted to let you all know that
For the next 10 days they will donate 10% of their sales to the Haitian Relief Fund. If you were waiting to
buy...think about doing it this week so you can help them donate to our neighbors in Haiti. Every small bit helps, Thank you!

What It Is:
Different styles of baby/toddler ring slings and pouches. They have great funky and modern fabrics that are sure to fit any parents style!

About the creators:
Lisa McDaniel and Natasha Stanton, created the Rockin' Baby Sling back in 2002 when we had our first kids, so parents can do their thing without having to compromise their sense of style. Back when we started our company there weren’t any carriers that were as fashionable as what we wanted to be wearing. We made a few slings for ourselves out of vintage fabrics and funky trims and were constantly stopped by other moms on the streets, in stores, at the post office, at schools, asking where they could get one. Rockin’ Baby was born shortly after that. Since then we’ve added the Rockin’ Baby reversible and adjustable pouch to our line.

My initial reaction:
I fell madly in love with the sling as soon as I took it out of the box. The print was gorgeous and the feel of the sling was super soft and luxurious. I was headed out the door and wanted to use it while out and about, and it only took me a short amount of time to read the included pamphlet about how to use/wear it!

My Thoughts After First Use:
I had a little trouble getting the Velcro cover back on after adjusting the zipper. I'm only mentioning this because I constantly feel like i'm in a hurry and this slowed me down a bit. I'm sure it will get easier as time goes on. Little L slipped right in and seemed very comfortable during his trips around the store and apartment. His sneakers were a little hard to wiggle in their, as they would stick to the inside of the fabric as I brought his bum down into the pouch. There is a padded part of the sling that fits snuggly under Little L's knees which not only adds great comfort but also gives me a quick reference as to which way to put the sling on! Another thing that we will master with practice! I loved the ease of just slipping it over my shoulder and being ready to go, where as with our current sling I feel like I am constantly readjusting. I will definitely stick solely to a pouch for our next baby!

Little L's thoughts:
He loves it! Little L loves being close to mommy and seeing all of the world at an adults level instead of people knees or a ceiling!

Big D's thoughts:
He was also very impressed with the way the sling was made and he loved the print too! He said, "it seems really sturdy, maybe it will be safe for me to try this one." His words but my thoughts, it would be great to have Big D carry the little guy around in a sling for awhile, and too cute too!

My personal rate on a scale of 1-10:
A definite 10 for this one! I know I'm truly in love with it when I want to buy one in every print they have available!

Marriage

Isn't Marriage an intense word? Or is it just me?
 Forever. For-Ev-Er.
I have always told all of my friends that I will never ever not in a million years get married. I mean statistically the result would just end up in divorce, and who really wants to go through that.
I know what you're thinking, negative nelly.
I just felt like if anyone rushes into something so major they may just be making a mistake, and well, I didn't want to be that person.
Isn't it the guy that is supposed to be having these kinds of thoughts?!
Well, It's time I move on from these thoughts! We've been engaged for 2 years now! Yes 2 years haha, and we've finally decided on getting married this year.
It's been a nice contemplative two years. I'm still just as happy as the day I met Big D, I thought the romance would die, I thought he would change and stop opening doors or telling me I'm beautiful. He still does. I love it. I love him. He loves me. We love our son. I can't wait for this to last FOREVER!
To the courthouse we go.
Bet you can't guess the date ;-)
I don't want a wedding.
Just a nice celebration sometime during the summer months so our families can congratulate us and dance their little pants off.

Wish me luck!
