Nifty Nappy Review and Giveaway!

I was thrilled to be asked to review a diaper from Nifty Nappy. The prints are just adorable and I was also very interested in trying out a woolie diaper cover. I have heard so many things about how great lanolized wool is for overnight use with cloth diapers. We were having TONS of problems with our heavy wetter waking up each morning with very highly saturated bed sheets! When the diaper arrived I just stared in awe at how cute this little piece of art was. To be honest I didn't even want to put it on Little L for fear that he would poop in it. Once he had it on he was zipping around just fine, no bulk in his busy little way. I then noticed a very foul odor coming from his quick breeze as he ran by me. I couldn't help but get a sad feeling knowing what he had just done in this beautiful little diaper. Luckily though the super soft fabric was really repellent to his poop somehow and it was really really easy to wash it off. No staining. No problems. A few days later I decided to try it over night and add the lanolized woolie to see how things would go. The next morning we went about our regular routine and it wasn't until Big D said something that I noticed Little L hadn't peed through his diaper! Amazing! This was a first for us and wow was it great to not have to wash and change sheets first thing in the morning. I can't say enough good things about this diaper! I was interested in learning a little bit more about the creator of such a wonderful diaper so I had a little one on one chat with Ms. Vilate Here's what she had to say--

1. How did you get started?
I started using cloth diapers with my first baby.  These were a simple fitteds made with flannel and a bulky soaker sewn inside.  They had velcro closures and we used those nasty plastic pants.  I used these for my first two, but my second child had really sensitive skin.  At one point when she was about 9 months old she got a really bad rash and we just couldn’t clear it up.  Our Dr. finally suggested that we go back to disposables at least until the rash cleared up.  We did this and then when we started to try to use our cloth again we had rash immediately.  We got rid of our cloth and our little boy, #3, was all disposables.  After I had started with #4 I met a gal that had a pocket diaper that I figured I could make up, so I spent some $$ and got a snap press and material and made me some diapers.  It has all gone uphill from there!  Wool, Hemp, Bamboo!  What FUN!
2. How many kids do you have?
I have 6 kiddos.  5 girls and one lonely boy right in the middle.  My oldest is 11 and my baby is 2.
3. How do you work around their busy schedules and still get things done?
Juggling 6 kids and sewing is  fun adventure.  My two oldest are both girls and they help a lot around the house.  My best employee is the crock pot though.  It is great to have dinner ready at the end of the day without having to stop in the middle of everything and make it.  Everyone has chores and I have an amazing hubby that is very understanding and puts up with all the fabric and stuff stashed all over the house.  We live in a small 3 bedroom and so I have to be creative on where to stash fabrics.  I find I am tons more productive in the morning than later in the day.  We get up and get started with the day at 6 a.m. We all get up and have family prayer and read scriptures, then we all have a yummy breakfast courtesy of daddy.  For real, he cooks too!  Dad heads out and then the kids get on the bus at 7:15.  This is when the two little girls play and mommy gets to cut or sew!  The big kids and dad bot get home about the same time, and mom already has her sewing stuff cleaned up!  Then it is family time!  with dinner and whatnot.  It is a hectic life, but I love it!
4. What made you choose cloth over disposables?
Honestly money is why I started and obsession is what kept me going!  :)
5. What's your funniest cloth diaper incident?
I think the funniest thing is that I am super sad that my baby is potty training right now!  :(
I know I should be so excited that I get to be done with all that, but I am NOT.  People think I am very odd when I tell them with a down-trodden face that my baby is ALREADY potty training.  pretty silly huh?  But I can't help it.  I won't be able to use my diapers anymore.  I guess I will have to live by proxy though others babies wearing my diapers.  I love to get pictures by the way!
