Feed me Friday- Turkey Leftovers
So you probably have a TON of leftover turkey...right?! Here is a great recipe I found to help you use those left overs up in a super yummy way!
Ingredients
6 eggs
6 cups cooked turkey meat
1 (16 ounce) jar sweet pickles, chopped
1 1/2 (10 ounce) jars mustard-mayonnaise blend
3/4 cup mayonnaise
Directions
Place eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the eggs, turkey, pickles, prepared sandwich and salad sauce and mayonnaise. Chill in the refrigerator approximately 3 hours before serving.
Chefs Notes:
By: Ann Sizemore
"This recipe can be made with leftover turkey, or a turkey breast. It is my great-grandmother's recipe. The cook time will not include the baking of the turkey, just making the salad. Keeping the salad somewhat chunky is part of what makes it good. No food processors, please. I serve this on a bed of red leaf lettuce and garnish with red and green seedless grapes and pecan halves. Cubed jellied cranberry sauce is very good with it, so I place that on the plate around the salad. Serve with assorted crackers or breads."
Enjoy!!
Holiday Fever
I'm really not into the whole crazy shopper deals this year! Which really just isn't me at all. I am all for a good deal, especially on things we may need. I did however get a pretty good deal on a dual screen portable car DVD player at walmart.com (for little L of course). We have such a hard time keeping him satisfied in the backseat of the car, Oh and did I mention we don't have him sit back there alone, if there's more than one in the car the other one is in the back entertaining the little guy. Are we the only ones that do this?! haha!
I have been a little disappointed and saddened the past week because Little L has gotten a horrible diaper rash from his cloth diapers. I LOVE cloth diapering and am so at a loss on what to do about his little tomato behind. We have switched to disposables for now until his bum gets better! I was reading up on it and did come across a few new ideas that I had not read about before. I am also going to try g-diapers for now until we get things cleared up a bit with my usual Blueberry dipes. He is also teething like a mad man poor little guy. He's been up at midnight the past 3 nights just screaming until I give him his Colic Calm (seriously this stuff is amazing). If you haven’t entered the giveaway you really really should! So that's been my week so far, the great part is that I did get to see family on Thanksgiving and Big D has had a couple days off work. It's such a bummer when he goes back! O well, I am still thankful for the time we have to spend together now! Hope everyone else is having a good week and Holiday break :-)

Blurb-- Gotta Check This Out!
I am addicted to turning my pictures into books. Once I discovered it I immediately knew it was something for me. It's hard to find the time for scrapbooking, and my house would look a little funny if I put all of my favorite pictures in frames and hung them up. I'm sure this is the case for lots of other mommies too. When I came across the Blurb website I was very intrigued by how professional their photo books looked. I browsed around and was able to take a look at their bookstore which contains other customers published books, staff picks, best sellers, or you could browse by category. I would like to thank Blurb for sponsoring my review and I am really excited to make a book of my own, and will keep you all updated along the way! ***Click Read More to find out more about the Company***

Blurb is a creative book publishing platform that enables anyone to design, publish, share, and sell affordable, bookstore-quality books.
Product Overview
Blurb’s publishing platform is comprised of three principal components:
1) Free book design and layout software called Blurb Booksmart ä . Available for Mac or PC, BookSmart offers a wide variety of page layouts, multiple theme packages, and royalty-free custom illustrations designed by commercial book designers.
2) Free online bookstore complete with an array of marketing tools such as Book Preview, tagging, and Blurb Badges. Blurb customers can make their books available at cost for friends and family or set their own price and retain 100% of the mark-up.
3) Bookstore-quality printing and binding. Books are printed on demand, so there’s no up-front investment – customers pay only when they order copies of their book. Minimum book order quantity is one, and discounts apply starting at 10 copies of the same book in a single order.
Available book formats include:
· Square 7x7 inches
· Standard Landscape 10x8
· Portrait 8x10
· Large Format Landscape 13x11

How It Works
BookSmart lets anyone create commercial-quality books by dragging and dropping images and adding text to professionally designed page layouts.
BookSmart imports photos and other image files from a computer hard drive, automatically recognizes iPhoto libraries on Macs, and ‘slurps’ images from online photo sharing sites such as Flickr, PhotoBucket, Picasa Web Albums, or SmugMug. Users can place images one at a time or autoflow them to quickly produce a draft book. New slurpers and integrated import functionality are in development. Likewise, BookSmart provides complete text support to create a variety of text-rich books, from travelogues to storybooks to cookbooks. BookSmart autoflows text pasted from other applications, adding pages as necessary, or users can directly type in the page layouts. Authors can use any font installed on their computer and format font size, color, and text styles.
Finally, Blurb’s Blog Slurpers automatically convert blogs to books in minutes. Supported platforms include Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal, and WordPress.com. Other platforms will be added in the future.
Online Bookstore and Marketing Tools
Blurb customers can order, share, market, and sell the books they make in Blurb’s free online bookstore. Users may choose to keep a book private, share by invitation only, or sell to the public. Further, Blurb’s Set Your Price program enables Blurb bookmakers to set a retail price higher than the cost, and retain 100% of the markup whenever their book sells.
All Blurb authors automatically get customizable Blurb Badges which can be placed on blogs, Web sites, or in email; when visitors click on the badge they link directly to the book’s detail page in the bookstore to learn more and/or purchase. Additional marketing tools include:
· Book description with image of cover
· Optional Book Preview
· Email announcement
· Email It to friends and colleagues
· Bookmark It to social bookmark sites
Markets
Blurb is bringing book publishing to the masses by providing an affordable publishing platform that’s accessible to anyone with a broadband connection and modest computing skills. Every family, traveler, photographer, bride, cook, poet, teacher, blogger, and artist has a book inside them waiting to be published, whether to keep, give, or sell at profit.
Increasingly, Blurb is also a popular choice for business and creative professionals who create books to promote products and services. Photographers, business owners, architects, designers, and marketing professionals have unique requirements for integrating books into their business processes, and Blurb’s print-on-demand model, order management, and fulfillment services, online bookstore, and attractive prices are driving significant market adoption in this category.

Something that Made me Smile
I am hoping to be able to post something that made me smile even if it's just a picture. I am going to leave the list here in this post. It will help to brighten my day, and I would love to hear of something that made you smile too!
Saturday November 21st--
I always rock little L to sleep for his naps in the Maya wrap. I had just gotten back from my workout and Little L was more than ready for his nap so I had to sling up right away! As I was rocking him and walking about the house I noticed he did his little head burry just below my armpit. Talk about a wake up call, he quickly pulled his head back and gave me the funniest look while saying "uckkk, uckkk" haha, I couldn't help but crack up! I think next time he might let me take a shower before I sling him for his nap!
O and this too--- ![]()
Sunday November 22nd--
A big glass of witches brew wine. Nuff said. :-)
Monday November 23rd--
I got 15 whole minutes in the car by myself...I rocked out to Kelly Clarkson the entire time!
I'm slacking---sick kid and an overload of "stuff" to get done!
Wednesday December 2nd--
We've talked my dad into visiting the Chiropractor with Little L and I on Friday!
Friday December 11th--

Feed Me Friday- Tomato Bisque Soup
Beach Bar Tomato Soup
What you Need:
1/2 cup butter
1 small onion chopped fine (I usually blend mine in my magic bullet)
1 (26oz) can tomato soup
1 qt half and half
1 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp basil or dill
1 qt stewed tomatoes (I don't like green pepper so I substitute italian diced tomatoes)
12 oz. cream cheese (blend with half and half to get smooth consistency)
Saute butter and onion. Add other ingredients. Heat on low heat watching so it doesn't stick to pan. Very rich and filling.
**Optional--Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and croutons***
Soooo good, everyone will go crazy over this soup!!

The Accident
Ok. Wow, where to start. My parents got divorced back in January of 2004, I can remember the day perfectly because it was the happiest day of my life. Sounds crazy right?! How many kids are excited about their parents splitting up? Dad had decided to leave and move back to his hometown in Texas and Mom stayed in Michigan with my brother and I. I wouldn't say I had a horrible childhood, there are millions of people who I'm sure have had worse.
I did however grow up with an alcoholic father that dealt with many issues that accompany 20 years of military service. I, wasn't to speak unless spoken to, answer only with a yes ma'am and no sir, and to act out of line at any time in front of my father was truly a death wish. So, as you can now understand, I was very happy to finally have this man out of my life. After he left, my brother kept in contact whereas I acted like he no longer existed. I can remember so many people telling me "but he's your father." I would just ignore them and complain, they just don't understand. Sober dad was super dad, so to everyone he knew he was the coolest outgoing high spirited man any person would want as their friend. Even me.
I don't remember the day exactly, it all seems like a big blur now. It was pretty early in the morning and Big D was getting out of bed to go to the bathroom. I told him to be extra quiet because I had just gotten little L to sleep, he then let me know my mom had called my phone during the night. I wasn't really worried for some reason, but figured it might be important so I called her back. When she answered I knew something was wrong, she had that shaky quiver in her voice like she'd been crying for hours. Once I asked her what’s wrong she began apologizing and proceeded to tell me that my dad had been in an accident and they don't think he's going to make it. Tears instantly began to stream down my face. I felt so guilty for not talking to him for so many years, and not telling him about his new grandson. I ran downstairs and told Big D what happened, my mom made a few phone calls and a few hours later I was at my mother in laws ordering plane tickets for me, my mom, and my brother. Little L would also be going because I was still nursing and we couldn't afford for Big D to take time off work to stay home with him.
We finally got the details about what happened. He had crossed two lanes and waited in the center turn lane before crossing the next two when a large explorer type vehicle hit him going around 45mph. When the ambulance picked him up they pronounced him DOA. Somewhere between the accident and the ride to the hospital a miracle revived him. His wallet was missing and he was so beat up from the accident that they couldn't identify him. Apparently he worked at this hospital previously and a woman who saw him identified him right away. This I feel was what saved his life! They were able to label him a veteran and he was flown to one of the most prestigious military hospitals in the world, Brooke Army Medical Center.
They stabilized him and kept us updated on everything that was going on until we could get there. We stayed in Texas for almost two weeks, one day it would seem like everything was fine and then the next the doctors would tell us something new that was wrong. He had fractured his C1-C2 level (the top two vertebrae of his neck/spine). Among many other injuries, broken leg, teeth in his lungs! The doctors said they’ve only had one other patient walk away from this type of an injury.
Long story short-- he made it through and is now off the vent, moving limbs, and is accomplishing more miracles every day. He says over and over again how crazy an accident as bad as this was actually a blessing. To have us all back in his life and to be given a second chance is the best thing that’s ever happened to him. He is sober and "happier than ever." Little L, Big D, and I went to visit him a few months ago in Texas at his physical therapy hospital for a week. He is surely a changed man and we were very excited when he asked to come back and live in Michigan. He will arrive tomorrow, moving in with my brother and his girlfriend. I am of course a little nervous, yet excited and happy that Little L gets to have his Papa in his life!

It was just another Thursday of me and my little guy hanging out until daddy got home from work. When we heard a knock on the door I was of course covered in peanut butter and strawberry jam, as was little L too. So, like always I didn’t make it to the door in time. After about a ½ package of baby wipes little L and I made our way to the front door to see if maybe, just maybe it had arrived. I had been anticipating the arrival of my very first blog giveaway triumph. I never win anything, honest! This one was something special, an all natural homeopathic infants supplement called Colic Calm. The claim was that it could “restore peace & happiness to your home naturally.” Some claim! I was super excited to try it.
Little L was a very colicky baby, I can recall giving him baths at 2am to soothe his belly pains. Even now at 13 months he still has a hard time sleeping at night. I am up with him throughout the night, every night. I had decided to wait until bedtime to try it out, hoping that maybe it will score me some actual sleep, after all, that is what their website claims. The con that was mentioned on Take Time To Smell the Rose was the fact that the product stains clothing, so I decided to give him his first dose during his bath that night. I gave him the ½ teaspoonful as directed on the bottle, and he sucked it down like a champ. It was hard to say if it was really working because the bath tub is the one place that guarantees the little guys happiness. Once dried and outta the tub daddy made the little man a bottle and we were ready to go. Usually once he’s sucked the whole thing down it takes about another 2 hours to get him to burp and then get him relaxed enough to get to sleep. When little L had finished I began rocking him over my shoulder when he belched so loud that Big D came into his room to investigate! He never burps so easily! It wasn’t but 15 minutes later that I could feel his “I’m asleep” dead weight in my arms. I had to creep into our room just to show Big D that he was already out. He did the quiet mouthing “Is he out already?” and I just pointed to the bottle of Colic Calm with the biggest grin on my face.
The final test…seeing if he sleeps more than two hours after I lay him down. I slowly placed him in his crib around 9:30 pm, keeping my fingers crossed and kissing him goodnight. Then I snuggled into my own bed hoping that the Colic Calm wont let me down. I remember waking up around 4am and freaking out because little L never sleeps past midnight! Something had to be wrong. I rushed in his room to check on him, and there he was still sleeping. I had once again forgotten about giving him the Colic Calm. I couldn’t believe it worked, he slept until he heard Big D’s alarm clock at 6:30am. Amazing! This stuff is amazing and I recommend it to every mommy in the world! It is definitely worth the money!

Feed Me Friday-- White Chicken Chili Dip
I'm so excited to share this favorite recipe of mine! It's so simple, yet very very delicious. It has few ingredients and can be made either in a crock pot or on the stove!
Here's What you need:
1 package boneless skinless chicken breast
1 large 48oz jar of Great Northern Beans
2 8oz blocks pepper jack cheese
1 8oz block monterey jack cheese
2 16oz jars Medium Salsa
1 bag tostitos scoops
Directions:
1. Boil and shred your chicken.
2. Cut cheese into small cubes.
Crock Pot
3. If you'd like to use the crock pot you can throw it all in and cook it on low, stirring occasionally until all your cheese is melted.
Stove Top
3. If you prefer to try it on the stove. Using a medium heat. Grab a deep large pot, add your beans and cheese stirring while the cheese is melting, make sure you stir enough so that your cheese doesn't stick to the bottom.
4. Once cheese has melted into the beans add your chicken and salsa.
5. Keep stirring it all together until heated.
Enjoy! That's it. Grab your chips and dive right in. It doesn't look all that appetizing but I've not met one person who hasn't asked me for the recipe after they've tried it!

I grew up an Army brat.
My father retired from the military after 20 years of service for his country. Our family loved every second of it. My mom served for 3 years and retired after finding out she was pregnant with my brother Big E. Never once did she complain about all of the extra hours of parenting she put in while my dad was away, at least not that I can remember!
We spent the majority of his service time in Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Polk, Louisiana. We also got the privilege of living in Berlin, Germany for 2 years. I didn't realize how lucky my brother and I actually were at the time. It wasn't until we moved into a small town in Michigan that I learned not everyone’s parents were in the military. For me, the biggest shocker of all was that not everyone moved around as much as we did growing up...the majority of them lived in the same town their entire lives. What!? This was a lot to think about for a 9 year old girl that spent her entire life moving all the time. I loved being able to make new friends and write letters to the old ones.
I am thankful for my positive outlook on change and how easily to this day I am able to welcome it. I do however start to go a little crazy when change isn't around, I tend to make it happen, for the better and sometimes even the worst. I've attended 5 different colleges, each change happening just as I get settled in. My fiancé Big D grew up in a town so small that his graduating class was made up of only 30 students. I envy his stories of growing up in the country care free with his "forever" friends always by his side. He envies my stories of adventure and travel, meeting presidents and riding around in Army tanks on base family days.
I take pride in every military family and the sacrifices that they made for their country. May God bless them, and the families that are doing it today...

Gorgeous Fall Day
Little L and I had the most perfect fall day with GG!
We went over to GG's house today, and since it was such a gorgeous day ( this doesn't happen too often here in the mitten) we decided to let little L play in the leaves. I really captured some great shots! I'm not sure which to ask for this year-a new sewing machine, or a new camera. I love both photography and sewing! The best thing about today...little L got some much needed fresh air, and mommy got some good home cooking for lunch!

Here I sit and Ponder.
Some nights I find myself browsing through the numerous amount of blogs online. I often get little L to sleep and rejoice in my "alone" time where I get to relax and unwind for a few before hitting the haysack myself. The blogs I've most recently read have made me come to a new realization that I truly wanted never to confront. It's not often that you come across such saddening stories that it makes your heart feel heavy and puts your stomach in knots. I've come across so many of these blogs the past few nights that I'm beginning to wonder why I was so blessed with such a happy healthy family. In my world, children don't die...and neither do their mothers. What world is this, you ask? Well after tonight, it's now my old world. The world I used to pretend was real just to hide the painful thought that death is real and could happen at any moment. I now feel guilty that I lay little L in his crib alone at night to sleep when I could be cuddling with him, savoring his every second of being...just being. I'm sure all of those families that have suffered the tragedy of losing their little ones would give anything to do this. My blog is titled Loves Journey because you never really know what road love may take you down. Long, short, weak, strong, hate or anger...so many emotions connected to love. I thrive on what the good feelings of love have brought me, even if it's for a short moment. I think this is how these families get through such a tragedy, reflecting on the time their little one was around...not the memories of the time they were taken away. I want you all to know you're in my prayers every night and you inspire me to be a better person, mother, daughter, and friend.
I just needed to take a moment and reflect on what I was feeling, nothing sums this post up more than...
Easy Dinner Recipe Cheesy Jack Mac
New! Feed me Fridays! I will be sharing my own recipe creations that will please your entire family!
I created this dish as a sort of grown up mac-n-cheese. As much as I love those little Spongebob shaped noodles, the flavor in the Kraft box was just not cutting it for me anymore!
Ingredients:
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 16oz box penne noodles
1 8oz bag Monterey Jack cheese
1 8oz block pepper jack cheese (optional)
1 ream ritz crackers
1 16oz jar Alfredo sauce
1 14.5 oz can of Italian style tomatoes (drained)
1 4oz can mushrooms (drained)
1 small onion (sliced)
2 Tbs. Olive oil
Directions:
1. Boil the chicken breasts until tender and falling apart.
2. Shred the chicken into small pieces.
3. Begin boiling noodles according to package directions. Remove and drain about 5 minutes before they are completely finished. You want them just a little undone.
4. Put the olive oil in a pan to saute your mushrooms and sliced onions.
5. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
6. Use a deep baking dish and poor in your chicken, cooked noodles, sauted mushrooms/onions, 1/2 can of tomatoes, 1/2 bag of monterey Jack cheese, and alfredo sauce. Also if you opted to add the pepper jack cheese then shred half of the block and add it at this time.
7. Mix well.
8. Sprinkle remainder of cheese on top.
9. Break up a few Ritz crackers evenly on top.
10. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
Enjoy! Simply amazing...your family will love it.

Confession Wednesday
This idea is from the featured SITS blog of the day! Take a Peek at Karen's world, you're sure to get a laugh or two. Here's my confessions...
1. I spend extra time in the bathroom reading magazines while daddy is home with little L.
2. I often sneak some of big D's sweets and somehow manage to get him to believe he was the one that ate them. I do the same thing to the little guy.
3. I sometimes slip Elmo in once in awhile even though little L's "your baby can read" program says not to!
4. I give in way to much and way to often!
5. I still let my mom do a lot for me.
6. I really don't mind changing poopy diapers, but I get some sort of satisfaction out of having big D do it.
7. I haven't worked out in over a year!

Holidays Are Near
Where did the time go? Not only is Halloween over but that means Thanksgiving is less than a month away.
I can remember telling everyone, "this year I wont let it catch me off guard, I'm going to be ready." Well it did. Once again. I have no presents stashed in my closet nor do I have any ideas for my Holiday dinner. Save me! I will be aiming for some unique holiday gifts this year, hopefully a lot of handmade things from the Etsy website! It makes the gift mean so much more. This will be the first year little L will actually kind of comprehend what's going on, this will make it extra special. We walked up to a Santa statue just last week and he wanted absolutely nothing to do with it! I'm thinking no super cute pictures with the jolly fella this year! Unless someone has a few tricks up their sleeves...
